Course Description

Tourism is one of the fastest-growing sectors and is mostly recognized for its economic side. For some countries, tourism is the main source of the economy. Tourism economy emerged as an independent discipline that possesses its own distinctive principles. This course aims to explain economic concepts and applications within the scope of the tourism and hospitality industry. The course will provide students with essential knowledge about tourism demand, supply, the influencing factors, pricing mechanisms, tourism, and market structure, etc. The module aims to develop an understanding of tourism economics from both macro and microeconomic perspectives. This course gives the basic elements and principles of tourism economics and some future directions on tourism economics. It focuses on learning about the impacts of tourism on the global, national, regional, and local economies and social superstructure.
