Program Description

The program aims to contribute to the delivery of evidence-based, holistic, safe, and high-quality nursing care throughout the processes of protecting and promoting the health of individuals, families, and communities, as well as preventing, managing, and rehabilitating acute and chronic conditions. It also seeks to develop students’ competencies in using scientific research methods to address problems related to the field, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, adhering to ethical principles, assuming leadership roles, and sustaining their professional development through lifelong learning.

The program’s vision is to become a nationally and internationally recognized, preferred, and exemplary graduate program that generates scientific knowledge in the field of Internal Medicine Nursing, translates this knowledge into nursing practice, and leads the development of innovative and evidence-based approaches.Üniversitenin lisansüstü eğitim-öğretim mevzuatı ve ilgili kurul kararları doğrultusunda yürütülür. Öğrencilerin daha önce yurt içinde veya yurt dışında tanınmış bir yükseköğretim kurumunda, lisansüstü düzeyde başarıyla tamamladıkları dersler; dersin içeriği, öğrenme çıktıları, kredisi, başarı notu ve alındığı programın düzeyi dikkate alınarak değerlendirilebilir. Öğrencinin transkript, ders içeriği ve gerekli diğer belgelerle süresi içinde başvurması üzerine ilgili anabilim dalının görüşü ve yetkili kurulun kararıyla uygun bulunan dersler için muafiyet ve kredi transferi yapılabilir.

Yatay geçiş, özel öğrencilik veya başka bir lisansüstü program kapsamında kazanılan öğrenmelerin tanınmasında ilgili mevzuatta belirtilen koşullar ve sınırlılıklar esas alınır. Örgün eğitim dışında mesleki deneyim, hizmet içi eğitim, sertifika programı, kurs veya bilimsel etkinlikler yoluyla edinilen öğrenmeler ise Üniversitenin bu alandaki düzenlemeleri kapsamında, belgelendirilmeleri ve program yeterlilikleriyle uyumlarının gösterilmesi hâlinde değerlendirmeye alınabilir. Önceki öğrenmelerin tanınmasına ilişkin kararlar, programın akademik bütünlüğü ve öğrencinin hedeflenen yeterliliklere ulaşması gözetilerek bireysel olarak verilir.

Recognition Of Prior Learning

The recognition of prior learning is carried out in accordance with the University’s regulations on graduate education and the decisions of the relevant boards. The conditions and limitations specified in the applicable regulations are taken into account when recognizing learning acquired through horizontal transfer, special student status, or another graduate program. Decisions regarding the recognition of prior learning are made on an individual basis, with due consideration given to the academic integrity of the program and the student’s attainment of the intended program qualifications.

EO 1To educate specialist nurses who can apply advanced knowledge grounded in nursing theories and principles to internal medicine nursing practice and provide evidence-based, safe, and high-quality care.
EO 2To educate specialist nurses who can investigate problems in the field of internal medicine nursing using scientific methods, conduct research independently, evaluate research findings, and use these findings to improve nursing practice.
EO 3To educate specialist nurses who can assume responsibilities in clinical care, education, and management processes, develop innovative approaches, and lead efforts to improve the quality of healthcare services.
EO 4To educate specialist nurses who can collaborate effectively with colleagues and healthcare professionals from different disciplines in meeting the health needs of individuals, families, and communities, and who sustain their professional and personal development through lifelong learning.

Program Profile

The Master’s Program in Medical Nursing is a thesis-based graduate program that provides graduates of undergraduate nursing programs with advanced knowledge, skills, and research competencies in the field of medical nursing. The program covers health protection and promotion, the prevention and management of acute and chronic diseases, evidence-based care, patient and family education, rehabilitation, patient safety, and quality of care. Through theoretical courses, practical training, seminars, and thesis work, students develop competencies in conducting scientific research, evaluating and translating research findings into practice, engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration, acting in accordance with ethical principles, and assuming leadership roles in clinical care, education, and management processes. Graduates may work in clinical practice, education, research, and management within healthcare institutions and may pursue academic careers and doctoral education.

Graduation Requirements

  • Completion of the course requirements: Students must successfully complete seven theoretical courses and the seminar course offered within the program.
  • Fulfilment of the ECTS requirement: Students must complete a total of 120 ECTS credits, including courses, the seminar, and thesis work.
  • Completion of the seminar course: Students are required to take and successfully complete the seminar course included in the program curriculum.
  • Successful completion of the thesis defence: Students must defend their master’s thesis before a jury and successfully pass the thesis defence examination.

    Specific Admission Requirements

    Admissions to master’s programs are offered for the Fall and Spring semesters each year. Applicants may apply directly to Cyprus International University through the online application system.

    Applicants from the Republic of Türkiye – Documents required for application:

    • A copy of the undergraduate diploma,
    • An official transcript covering the entire undergraduate program,
    • A valid ALES score report issued within the past five years,
    • A copy of the passport or national identity card.

    Applicants from the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus – Documents required for application:

    • A copy of the undergraduate diploma,
    • An official transcript covering the entire undergraduate program,
    • A copy of the passport or national identity card.

    Occupational Profiles of Graduates

    They may assume responsibilities related to clinical supervision, in-service training, care planning, and the improvement of care quality in the education, research, quality improvement, and management units of healthcare institutions. Provided that they meet the relevant requirements, they may engage in academic and research activities at higher education institutions and pursue academic careers by continuing their education in doctoral programs.
