- Program Description
-
This program offers an advanced, coursework-only Master of Science degree (M.S.) in Civil Engineering. It provides professional development and specialized knowledge across key civil engineering disciplines—such as structural, transportation, environmental, or geotechnical engineering—without the requirement of a formal research thesis. The focus is on practical application, design, and problem-solving through intensive study, preparing graduates for immediate advancement in industry or consulting roles.
- Recognition Of Prior Learning
-
At International Cyprus University (CIU), full-time students may be exempt from certain courses within the framework of the relevant regulations. If the content of a course previously taken at another institution is equivalent to a course offered at CIU, the student may be granted an exemption from that course upon evaluation of the course content and approval from the relevant faculty/institute.
Objectives
Program Educational Objectives
Advance Professional Competency: To deepen specialized technical knowledge and enhance practical design and analysis skills beyond the undergraduate level.
Facilitate Career Advancement: To prepare graduates for immediate progression, leadership, and expertise in complex roles within the civil engineering industry.
Provide Specialized Focus: To allow focused, coursework-intensive study in a sub-discipline without the requirement of a formal research thesis.
Program Profile
This program has a comprehensive curriculum that allows students to gain in-depth knowledge in their chosen specialization fields such as Structural, Geotechnical, Transportation, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering. Students are required to complete courses focusing on design principles, advanced analysis methods, and current industry standards. Instead of a research thesis, the program typically culminates in a term project or a capstone course.
