Department of Public Relations and Advertising at CIU aims to prepare our students for diverse and highly competitive careers in the fields of public relations and advertising. Our goal is to provide our graduates with the credentials that meet or go beyond the expectations of the sector and to prepare them to be productive and creative communication experts with social responsibility and ethics. The medium of instruction is English and it is designed to teach students both theory and practice oriented courses.
Public Relations and Advertising graduates can pursue careers in many fields, including advertising agencies, public relations firms, media organizations, corporate communications departments, digital agencies, and non-governmental organizations. Entrepreneurial opportunities also exist in creative industries. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and vision to compete both nationally and internationally.
The program aims to cultivate socially responsible leaders who can shape the dynamics of the communications sector in a digital world.

At Cyprus International University, full-time students may be exempt from certain courses, in accordance with relevant regulations. If the content of a course previously taken at another institution is equivalent to a course offered at CIU, the student may be exempted from the course with the approval of the relevant faculty/institute after the course content has been evaluated.

Program Educational Objectives
The Program Objectives of the Public Relations and Advertising Department are as follows:
1: To provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge necessary for success in the fields of public relations and advertising.
2: To equip students with the skills to select and use contemporary tools and technologies necessary for professional practice in public relations and advertising.
3: To develop students' critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills for effective public relations and advertising practices.
4: To develop students as creative, confident individuals with effective communication and strong presentation skills, a strong teamwork spirit.
5: To develop students as professionals in the public relations and advertising professions who embrace ethical codes, professional standards, and democratic values, respect human rights, and are socially responsible.
Program Profile
The Public Relations and Advertising Undergraduate Program is a four-year undergraduate program that aims to develop professionals in the field of communication who are creative, strategic thinkers, and committed to ethical values. The program provides students with both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in fields such as advertising, public relations, media planning, brand management, digital communication, and corporate communication. Adopting an interdisciplinary approach, the program cultivates graduates who are analytical and solution-oriented, aligned with industry expectations.
The program was established in the 1997–1998 academic year under the name Advertising and Public Relations. In 2020, it changed its name to Public Relations and Advertising, continuing its education. The program provides a strong academic and practical foundation that meets the needs of the media and communications sector.
Throughout their education, students actively participate in practical activities such as project development, campaign design, media analysis, creative content production, and the use of digital communication tools. They also gain industry experience through a mandatory internship. Graduates have career opportunities in a wide range of fields, including advertising agencies, public relations firms, digital media agencies, corporate communications units, and media organizations. The program also provides a solid foundation for graduates pursuing graduate education.

Graduation Requirements
In order to be eligible for graduation, students must have successfully completed all courses in the curriculum (equivalent to a total of at least 240 ECTS) and their general weighted grade point average at graduation must be at least 2.00 out of 4.00.

Qualification Requirements And Regulations
Program Graduation Requirements:
1) Completion of a minimum of 127 credits (240 ECTS),
2) Completion of all program courses and a minimum grade of "D" or "E"/"T" for credit courses and an "S" or "E"/"T" for non-credit courses,
3) Completion of two separate 20-day summer internships in Public Relations and Advertising and an "S" grade in the internship courses,
4) A Cumulative Academic Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.00 or higher out of 4.00 is required.
Specific Admission Requirements
Turkish citizen students who are successful in the exams conducted by the Higher Education Council Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) and are entitled to enroll in our university in line with their preferences can complete the registration process with the necessary documents for registration from our Registration and Liaison Offices throughout Turkey or from the Marketing Directorate on campus.
TRNC citizens and TR citizen candidate students who have completed their entire high school education in TRNC. They are placed in undergraduate programs in line with their success in the CIU Student Placement and Scholarship Ranking Exam and the programs they prefer.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates
Graduates of the Public Relations and Advertising Program are prepared to take on diverse roles in advertising agencies, public relations firms, media organizations, corporate communication departments of public institutions and private companies, digital marketing agencies, and social media management. They may also work in political communication consulting and non-governmental organizations.
In addition, graduates have the option to establish their own enterprises within the communications sector or pursue freelance careers. The program equips them with the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to work effectively in national and international communication contexts. They also have the opportunity to advance their academic careers by enrolling in graduate programs.

Learning Taxonomy
As is the case throughout the university, the Faculty of Communication has used the SOLO taxonomy to record learning outcomes in all courses, starting in the 2018-19 academic year. Using the SOLO taxonomy, learning outcomes in all courses are recorded using only measurable or observable action verbs.
