Recognition Of Prior Learning

At Cyprus International University (CIU), full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related bylaws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at CIU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.

Objectives

Program Educational Objectives

The educational objectives (EO) for the Bachelor of Science in Information Technologies are:

  1. Apply Information Technology principles and techniques to real life problems, and effectively communicate the solutions.

  2. Design and apply relevant Information Technology solutions to business-related problems.

  3. Utilize trending computing techniques to handle real-world problems.

  4. Effectively integrate IT‐based solutions into the user environment and help non-technical professionals in exploring, visualizing, and using these solutions.

  5. Understand the obligations under professional and ethical standards in relation to matters like data and information system usage.

Program Profile

The Information Technologies (IT) undergraduate program at Cyprus International University is an interdisciplinary academic pathway that blends technology, systems thinking, and practical computing skills to meet the evolving demands of today’s digital world. Established under the School of Applied Sciences, the program is designed to develop professionals who can design, implement, and manage IT solutions that enhance decision-making, solve real-world problems, and support organizational efficiency.

The curriculum provides a balanced mix of theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience across key domains such as software development, database systems, network design, system analysis, cybersecurity, and business intelligence. Emphasis is placed on integrating technical expertise with problem-solving and communication skills to prepare students for careers at the intersection of technology and business.

Over the course of four years, students engage in project-based learning, industry collaborations, and a mandatory 30-day internship, enabling them to apply classroom knowledge in professional settings. These experiences help bridge the gap between academic theory and workplace practice.

The program’s teaching approach emphasizes active learning, critical thinking, and teamwork. Faculty members act as mentors, guiding students through collaborative projects and applied research that explore how IT supports innovation and strategic goals. Courses are delivered through a dynamic mix of lectures, lab sessions, case studies, and simulation-based assignments.

To support academic and professional growth, students have access to a wide range of resources, including digital libraries, specialized software, and modern computing labs. The IT program equips graduates with the adaptability, technical proficiency, and ethical awareness needed to lead digital transformation across industries and sectors
