Course Description

This course aims to make the student aware of the role, NGOs play in the quality, quantity and availability of social services for underrepresented social groups, and explores the necessity for an increasing communication between NGOs, social workers and the civil society. This unit in its first part will draw on the development of NGOs as well as on its unique characteristics including the focus on development discourse, biographies of famous NGO leaders and the discussion about how successful NGOs can be. The second part of the course will pay detailed attention to specific social problems they are intervened by a cooperation of NGOs and social workers.
