Course Description

Examination of the changes in the social and political structure during the Republic Period and its reflections in literature. The theoretical aspects of poetica set forth within Turkish poetry history is taught and applied poetry analyses are done. Determining the main lines of Turkish poetry during the Republic Period. Providing information on key artists of this period. Poetic societies, poets emerging from societal changes and transformations, themes in poems, structural changes in poems, other developments and the sociology of poetic literature from 1923 till today is examined. The modern text analysis methods used by 20th Century and current Turkish poetry representatives and the change Turkish poetry has gone through and a comparative approach on the different types of current literature will be covered.
