Course Description
In addition to Yahya Kemal and Mehmet Akif, artists like Halide Edip, Yakup Kadri and Refik Halid Karay are examined with selected poems, stories, and novels. During the National Literature Period (1911-1923) reflections of community, societal, political changes, tranformations, and their representation in literature are analyzed in addition to novelists and their novels, thematic and structural changes in novels, and story types associated with the period. Changes/novelties in poetry during the National literature period are examined. Literary activities and journals contributing to the formation of National literature are analyzed. Works from Mehmet Emin Yurdakul, Ahmet Hikmet, and Rıza Tevfik are evaluated. Literary activities and works from Ziya Gokalp are evaluated. Stories from Omer Seyfettin are analyzed. Other poets and authors from National literature are examined
