Course Description

This course aims to discuss what skills are to be used in psychological counseling practices and to match appropriate techniques, skills and methods for different problems. In this course, the students who will take this course will be informed about what is the basic principles of counseling, psychological counseling process and stages, basic psychological counseling skills and techniques (psychological counseling steps and skills, establishment of first relationship with the client and communication, evaluation of the problems of the client, strategy selection and selection of the intervention method ... etc). It is expected that by using these acquired information and various psychological counseling theories, the use of skills and techniques in the psychological counseling process will be reinforced with sample practices.   1. P01 Demonstrate an understanding of the core subfields of psychology — including but not limited to clinical, developmental, cognitive, social, and biological/neuroscientific psychology — and their interconnections with other scientific disciplines, critically evaluating the value of a multidisciplinary approach to scientific inquiry in psychology.

P02 Apply scientific methods, research techniques, measurement and psychometric principles (e.g., reliability, validity, scale development/adaptation), and quantitative/statistical reasoning to investigate psychological phenomena, recognizing methodological strengths, limitations, common reasoning fallacies, and the flaws of pseudoscience.
