Course Description

Juvenile Law and children's rights issues are important for a healthy society as much as they are important for the healthy development of a child as an individual. This course primarily covers basic issues such as protection of the child in the family, protection of personality rights, the child’s parentage, legal capacity, adoption and tutelage. These issues are examined in light of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the obligations of the member states to Convention. The issue of the protection of children's rights in public law is also addressed. Act on the Protection of the Child and Juvenile Courts are briefly mentioned and the situation of children in need of protection is also examined.
