Course Description

The aim of this course is; to decide the appropriate prosthesis for amputation or congenital limb deficiency patients, to plan appropriate treatment programs for amputee patients, to gain awareness of advanced technological applications in prosthetics and rehabilitation. The causes of amputation, the amputation levels, congenital amputations, the necessary assessments according to the rehabilitation stages patients with an indication prosthesis, mechanical fundamentals of prosthesis, types of prosthesis, walking problems in lower limb amputees, early and temporary prostheses applications, myoelectric prostheses, advanced technological prostheses and amputee rehabilitation, upper extremity amputee rehabilitation, stages, appropriate physical therapy approaches and education with prostheses, early and temporary prostheses, advanced technological prosthesis in the upper and lower extremity amputations take place in the scope of this course.

Course outcomes

  1. 01 Recognize the parts forming the prosthesis and express what they have learned about the production processes.
  2. 02 Will plan an appropriate prosthesis for the patient with amputated or congenital limb deficiency.
  3. 03 Will be able to recognize and explain the complications associated with amputation and prosthesis applications, problems associated with amputation and posture and gait disturbances in amputees.
  4. 04 Will be able to plan and implement the appropriate treatment program in amputees.
  5. 05 Evaluate the compliance of the prosthesis in patients using prosthesis, review the necessary biomechanical adjustments and results.
