Course Description

This course is designed to develop the physical therapist's skill and ability to make clinical decisions. Students will be educated on how to make decisions that validate safe physical therapy practice in a variety of health care settings and diverse patient populations. Topics to be discussed include the case-based clinical decision-making framework, clinical insights, and current concepts in physical therapy within different clinical decision-making models. History taking from patients, using specific tools for physiotherapy assessment including paediatric, neurological, cardiopulmonary and other musculoskeletal assessment methods will be covered. Factors such as multipathological conditions, the level of knowledge of the physiotherapist and the environments that influence the decision-making process will also be discussed. Seminar topics that will improve students' presentation skills will also be covered.
