Course Description

The aim of the course is to provide graduate students with general information about research, research stages, research ethics in the field of health sciences, to raise awareness and sensitivity, and to conduct research in accordance with publication ethics in this context. In the content of the course, research planning in health sciences, sources of error in research, sampling methods, determination of appropriate sample size, research types, report writing, research ethics concept, related sub- and super-concepts, the most discussed research ethics issues today, clinical research, non-interventional clinical research, how to ensure scientific validity and reliability in animal experiments, the most common research ethics violations and methods to prevent them, and to raise awareness and knowledge about the ways to be followed in case of violations.

Program Outcomes

  1. Monitors conceptual and clinical scientific developments in core measurement, assessment, and treatment techniques specific to physiotherapy and rehabilitation; applies the advanced and systematic knowledge gained in professional and academic work.
  2. Uses theoretical and practical concepts and principles of physiotherapy and rehabilitation to critically evaluate and integrate information from other disciplines, generate new knowledge, and develop problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities.
  3. Designs research plans and participates in projects; selects appropriate statistical methods for their studies, interprets results, prepares reports, and presents findings at scientific meetings or publishes them.
  4. Independently conducts specialized practices and research in physiotherapy and rehabilitation in accordance with ethical principles; contributes professional knowledge and skills responsibly within team-based work.
  5. Identifies personal learning needs and goals, pursues lifelong learning, and contributes to quality improvement, professional training, and outreach programs.
  6. Contributes to public health and health policy; raises awareness among individuals, families, and communities about educational, preventive, and rehabilitative approaches.
  7. Uses at least one foreign language included in the European Language Portfolio to communicate effectively in both spoken and written form at an international professional and academic level.
