Course Description

The aim of this course is; to understand the movement features of the body parts and to understand the relationship between the movements, to determine the sequence errors, to define normal and pathological movements, to understand the mechanisms of injury and evaluation parameters. Shoulder joint biomechanics, sports shoulder joint mechanism of injury, elbow, wrist and hand injuries mechanisms, sports elbow, wrist and hand injuries mechanisms, knee injury mechanisms, hip injury mechanisms, ankle injury mechanisms and injury evaluation. The content of this course is learning the applied and advance mechanisms of injuries and be able to use the applied therapy techniques towards patients.

Learning Outcomes

  1. L01 Explains injury mechanisms (traumatic and overuse) on a biomechanical basis; relates force, loading modes, and tissue tolerance concepts. SOLO 4
  2. L02 Discusses injury mechanisms and damage patterns in muscle, tendon, ligament, bone, joint, and nerve tissues. SOLO 4
  3. L03 Describes the typical mechanisms of region-specific injuries (shoulder, elbow/wrist/hand, spine, hip, knee, ankle/foot) and relates them to clinical presentations. SOLO 3
  4. L04 Reviews current literature, analyses an injury mechanism in an evidence-based manner, and presents it. SOLO 4
  5. L05 Discusses the role of mechanism knowledge in injury prevention and rehabilitation planning. SOLO 4

Program Outcomes

  1. Monitors conceptual and clinical scientific developments in core measurement, assessment, and treatment techniques specific to physiotherapy and rehabilitation; applies the advanced and systematic knowledge gained in professional and academic work.
  2. Uses theoretical and practical concepts and principles of physiotherapy and rehabilitation to critically evaluate and integrate information from other disciplines, generate new knowledge, and develop problem-solving and clinical decision-making abilities.
  3. Designs research plans and participates in projects; selects appropriate statistical methods for their studies, interprets results, prepares reports, and presents findings at scientific meetings or publishes them.
  4. Independently conducts specialized practices and research in physiotherapy and rehabilitation in accordance with ethical principles; contributes professional knowledge and skills responsibly within team-based work.
  5. Identifies personal learning needs and goals, pursues lifelong learning, and contributes to quality improvement, professional training, and outreach programs.
  6. Contributes to public health and health policy; raises awareness among individuals, families, and communities about educational, preventive, and rehabilitative approaches.
  7. Uses at least one foreign language included in the European Language Portfolio to communicate effectively in both spoken and written form at an international professional and academic level.
