Course Description

The aim of this course is to learn the effect of nutrition in the formation and treatment of diabetes. To develop personalized medical nutrition therapy programs for individuals with diabetes. During this course, the student; Gains information about the definition, classification and diagnostic methods of diabetes, explains the relationship between the pathogenesis of diabetes and nutrition, explains the effect of nutrition on the formation of complications, learns about the interaction between drug-insulin-exercise and nutrition, principles and steps of medical nutrition therapy, gains the ability to access, analyze, organize and present the information they are looking for. During the course; Diagnosis and epidemiology of diabetes, exercise and nutrition in diabetes, diabetes and carbohydrates, proteins, fats and fiber will be covered.

  3. L03 Evaluate current nutritional approaches to the prevention and treatment of obesity in diabetes management from a critical perspective. SOLO 5
  4. L04 Plan individualised nutritional interventions for the acute and chronic complications of diabetes using a multidisciplinary approach, in line with current national and international guidelines, and critically evaluate the outcomes. SOLO 4.5
