Course Description
This course aims to educate the nurses who can evaluate the bio-psychosocial factors affecting the development of the aimed mental health and treat the individuals holistically, protect and improve the mental health and treat them in cases where mental health is impaired and nursing them by using concepts specific to mental health and psychiatric nursing; nursing process. Basic concepts in mental health, historical development, roles and responsibilities of mental health and psychiatric nursing; protective mental health, protection and improvement of mental health; psychosocial diagnosis and assessment of mental status; anxiety disorders; stress and psychosomatic disorders, eating disorders; mood disorders; schizophrenia and psychotic disorders; dependency; personality disorders; organic mental disorders; psychosocial and somatic treatments; fighting against mental illnesses and stigmatization and stigmatization; mental problems in physical illnesses; legal and ethical dimension in psychiatry, patient acceptance and discharge in psychiatric clinics, therapeutic environment, observation interview.

- 01 1. Define concepts related to mental health and illness, stress, personality, and mental health care.
- 02 2. Describe dimensions of psycho-social assessment for clients with different psychiatric disorders
- 03 3. Justify the importance of establishing a therapeutic relationship with mentally ill clients using the therapeutic communication techniques
