Learning Outcomes

  1. L01 Students will be able to define cultural heritage tourism and identify key components such as heritage resources, tourist activities and visitor experiences within this field. SOLO 1
  2. L02 Students will be able to recognize major types of cultural heritage resources (e.g. built heritage, museums, cultural landscapes, religious sites) and name at least one example for each type from the course material. SOLO 2
  3. L03 Students will be able to list multiple heritage tourist motivations and describe how these motivations influence demand patterns in cultural heritage tourism. SOLO 3
  4. L05 Students will be able to describe several environmental, socio-cultural and economic impacts of tourism on heritage places and separate positive from negative effects using examples from the course. SOLO 3
  5. L06 Students will be able to explain how demand, supply, spatial patterns of heritage resources, authenticity issues, and political factors relate to one another in shaping management decisions at cultural heritage destinations. SOLO 4
  6. L07 Students will be able to develop and justify a management strategy for a selected cultural heritage site by synthesizing concepts of demand, supply, impacts, conservation, legislation, interpretation and planning beyond the examples used in class. SOLO 5
