Course Description
In this course, emergence of the concept of state from ancient Greek and Roman periods is addressed. In the first part, basic concepts of state in Medieval Thought, the Enlightenment period, and modern political thinking are introduced. Additionally, current criticisms of modern state are considered. In the second part, General State Theory is explained. The concept of power, formation and structural elements of the modern state are addressed. In the third part of the course, the general theory of the modern state is examined within the context of modern political systems. Finally, basic qualities of state and its comparison with other communities will be examined and a foundation will be created about theories of the state.
