Course Description
This course aims to develop the theoretical and empirical background of the students about the political, cultural, economic and security affairs of the countries which are members of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. Thus and so the project of Euro-Mediterranean Partnership will be analyzed within the framework of both traditional and critical theories by referring to the three constitutive phases (security and political cooperation, economic cooperation and cultural dialogue) as well as by assessing certain case studies.

Course outcomes
- 01 To gain awareness of the ways in which mainstream views of security issues at local, national, regional and international levels interrelate with each other.
- 02 To understand the interelationship between the political, security, socio-economic, and cultural “Partnership”.
- 03 To understand distinction between governmental, media and scholarly discourse on the Mediterranean area.
- 04 The ability to assess the contending interpretations of apparent and claimed reasons for conflict and instability in the Mediterranean area.
- 05 To be able to Identify the inter-twinning between domestic and external determinants in shaping regional order in connection with world politics.
- 06 To Link the process of regional building with the political agenda of the interested actors.
- 07 Critical understanding of the prospects for regional cooperation and the building of multifaceted and balanced security strategies.
- 08 To understand the ultimate goals of EU foreign policy, the aspirations of the Mediterranean people, and the role played by extra-regional powers and non-state stake-holders.
- 09 To develop analytical, writing skills with competence to generalize, hypothesize, criticize, theorize.
- 10 To develop critical objectives in order to improve communication skills for in-class presentations.
