Course Description
This course aims to examine the principles of building physics that affect user comfort and environmental performance in interior design. Within the scope of the course, climate factors, thermal comfort, energy-efficient design approaches, passive climate control strategies, natural and artificial lighting systems, and acoustic comfort principles are studied. Students analyze spatial design variables affecting light, sound, temperature, and energy control; and evaluate the impacts of window openings, spatial geometry, surface characteristics, building envelope, and environmental arrangements on interior performance. Visual comfort, integrated lighting design, and acoustic regulation principles are examined through interior architectural projects. By the end of the course, students are expected to relate environmental data to design decisions and develop interior solutions that support user comfort.
