Course Description
This studio course aims to introduce the fundamental design elements and principles that form the foundation of interior architecture education through applied design exercises. Within the scope of the course, basic design elements such as point, line, plane, volume, texture, color, and form are examined together with design principles including balance, rhythm, contrast, emphasis, unity, variety, proportion, hierarchy, and Gestalt principles. Through two- and three-dimensional composition studies, students develop visual perception, creativity, hand-eye coordination, and spatial thinking skills. The design process is supported through observation, experimentation, research, and critical evaluation methods, while students are encouraged to generate original design solutions using various representation techniques. The course provides students with the fundamental knowledge, skills, and design approaches required to apply basic design principles to interior design processes.

Course outcomes
- 01 deliberating, designing, questioning, defining, developing, producing, sharing and visualizing design skills considering fundamental concepts related to the notion of shape and form, elements and principles of design.
- 02 The ability of improving hand - eye coordination, expressing the idea along with creativity, perception and sensitivity,
- 03 Comprehending that the design process conclude a life time of learning, design thinking and it is not limited to studio hours.
- 04 Skills of relating design with the design questions for identifying of why, what and for whom we're designing, abstraction, generalizing , assembly and combination.
- 05 Substantiate that design is an active and always developing life style and ability to keeping up with the local and global social, political, technological, economical agenda and social and artistic activities.
- 06 Consciousness that sketch books are the initial core of a design portfolio which will be our introductory signature.
