Course Description
This course is designed to provide students with a historical overview of mindfulness literature. In this light, an overview of the terminological origins of mindfulness, alongside with a selection of 1990s and 2000s seminal works on elaborating the concept will be discussed. Additional emphasis will be put on the functions and strategical implementation of mindfulness skills both in formal and informal settings; and relevant literature on state and trait assessment of such skills will be covered. The cognitive flexibility and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) processes literature, research on nonattachment and nature connectedness are amongst the introductory reading assignments covering contemporary topics of focus in current research.
