CHILD NEGLECT AND ABUSE

Course Description

The aim of this course is to teach students to take in consideraiton the child's best interests at first, equip the students with the capabilities of understanding neglect and abuse, child's rights and responsibilities, international agreements and legislations& policies. At the and of the semester students will be aware of child's rights and the social work interventions on child protection issues. Also will have knowledge about child lawand the basic elements of child's rights & responsibilities mwntioned in UN Convention, can identify child abuse and neglect, and the social work approaches, can compare the legislation on child law in different countries (TRNC, TR and others), can discuss different approaches and policy prescriptions on child's rights and child law and will learn the social work interventions on child protection.
