Course Description

Within the scope of the special education course, which is one of the basic courses of the guidance and psychological counseling department, the students are introduced to the definition of special education, basic principles of special education, the causes of disability, the importance of early diagnosis and treatment, the historical approach to the disabled view, the mental disability, the hearing impaired, the visually impaired, the physical disability, characteristics and education of autistic and gifted children with language and communication impairment, children with continuing illness, special learning disability, attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder, the reactions observed in the families of children in need of special education, the state of special education in our country and the institutions and organizations established for this purpose will be taught in detail.
