CHILD HEALTH AND DISEASE

Course Description

This course aims to equip students with knowledge regarding fundamental concepts—such as family-centered care, primary care, atraumatic approaches, and case-centered care—as well as health, common illnesses, and relevant clinical approaches within the context of child health and disease. The course covers the health assessment, vaccination of infants, children, and adolescents from birth to age 18; principles of health protection and appropriate health-promotion strategies; the concept and characteristics of the "sick child"; and the impact of hospitalization on the child and accompanying parents. Furthermore, it addresses the definitions, etiologies, signs, symptoms, and treatments of the most common disorders affecting the respiratory, digestive, cardiovascular, neurological, urological, oncological, hematological, and endocrine systems, alongside the appropriate approaches and techniques to be employed by child development specialists for each topic.
