Course Description

Human Biology provides students who are studying especially in the field of health, with an introduction to the anatomical structures and physiological functions of the human body. Students will investigate the relationships between normal structure and function in human cells, tissues and organs. In Human Biology coverage of organ systems builds on content presented in Human Biology IA. Course content is divided into five modules: Cardiovascular System; Respiratory System; Digestive System and Metabolism; Urinary Systems; and Infection and Immunity. As well as introducing students to content, emphasis is placed on developing skills in research, critical analysis and communication of scientific information relevant to the study of humans. This course is a description of the human being through biology and chemistry.
