Course Description
This course provides a comprehensive and systematic overview of the fundamental principles underlying artificial intelligence. It examines core paradigms of AI, including symbolic reasoning, search algorithms, knowledge representation, probabilistic reasoning, and learning-based approaches. The course emphasizes the conceptual and mathematical foundations that shape modern intelligent systems. Topics include state-space search, constraint satisfaction, logical inference, decision-making under uncertainty, introductory machine learning principles, and an overview of contemporary AI architectures. Students will critically analyze different AI methodologies, compare symbolic and data-driven approaches, and evaluate their theoretical assumptions and practical implications. The course aims to establish a strong conceptual framework that prepares students for advanced study and research in specialized AI domains. Upon completion, students will be able to articulate the fundamental models of intelligence, assess their strengths and limitations, and position modern AI developments within a coherent theoretical structure.
