Course Description

Introducing the general approach towards protection of historic buildings. The methods of making a thorough measured and descriptive survey of a historic building. The aim of the course is to examine the recording of architectural heritage information by means of heritage research, conservation, management and architectural heritage display. Students will test their knowledge of the course through various techniques and instruments gained from theoretical lectures by applying them on a chosen building. Practical exercises are carried out on a field study. The students are also encouraged to develop a practical approach for analyzing a traditional dwelling on a site which is chosen as case study and is necessary for the preparation of a restitution project.
