Course Description
This course is the advanced version of History of Modern Art I. The course is based on a comprehensive survey of the modern period of art, beginning in the19th century and continuing through the various styles and movements of the 20th century. The course concentrates on distinctive individual styles in each movement in modern art. Within this scope various modern artists like Monet, Manet, Cezanne, Matisse, Picasso, Braque, van Gogh, Duchamp, and Warhol’s works will be examined and analysed in their interactions with the spirit of their time. The aim of the course is to lead students to an understanding of how modern art has developed through these artists’ works.
