Course Description
This course examines the relationship between journalism and politics and its place in the broader media landscape. In particular it will address the contribution which journalism can make to the public understanding of, and public engagement with, political discourse. Student journalists will focus on the major practical and theoretical issues affecting political journalism and reflect on the role they can play as political reporters in a variety of contexts. Students will also produce original political reporting, which will be examined via a portfolio of original written work.
