Course Description

This course aims to inform physiotherapy students about the orthotic applications. The followings are expected from the students who completed the course successfully; to make assessment before and after orthotics, to be aware of the different orthotic materials and ready products, to be aware of the possible complications of orthotic applications, to plan and apply the appropriate treatment program to increase the effectiveness of orthotic and rehabilitation. Frequent pathologies of the foot and ankle, orthotic applications, indications of long foot orthoses, commonly orthosis applications, spinal deformity orthoses (scoliosis, kyphosis, increasing and decreasing in lordosis etc.), spinal pathology orthoses (vertebra fractures, the intramedullary trauma, instabilities etc.) take place in the scope of this course.

Course outcomes

  1. 01 Select the orthosis requirement of the patient and decide the orthosis.
  2. 02 Plan and implement the necessary evaluations before and after the application in patients with orthosis indication.
  3. 03 It will regulate the alignment of the orthosis in patients using orthoses and review the need for modification.
  4. 04 Associate possible complications with orthosis applications.
  5. 05 Plan and implement the treatment program that will increase the effectiveness of the orthosis.

Week 1 Orteze giriş, ortez kullanım amaçları, temel kullanım alanlarına yönelik örnekler.
Week 2 Ayağın patomekaniği, sık görülen deformiteler (pesplanus, halluks valgus, düşük ayak/ekin, pesekinovarus, ekstremite kısalıkları, kırıklar vb.)
Week 3 Ayağın ortezlenmesinde temel prensipler, Uygun ayakkabı, ortezlerde kullanılan materyal bilgisi
Week 4 Ayağın ve ayakbileğinin sık görülen patolojileri, ortez uygulamaları, kullanım, kontrol ve tedavi yöntemleri Öğrenci sunumları: Özel durumlarda kullanılan ayak ortezleri
Week 5 Dizin mekanik ve travmatik patolojilerinde ortotoik yaklaşım Doğuştan Kalça Çıkığının klinik özellikleri, belirtiler ve ortezleme tedavisi
Week 6 Uzun yürüme ortezlerinin endikasyonları, yaygın ortez uygulamaları, sorunların giderilmesi, Özel Mobilite Ortezleri

Week 10 Spinal deformite ortezleri (skolyoz, kifoz, lordozda artış ve azalma vb.)
Week 11 Elin splintlenmesindeki temel kavramlar, prensipleri ve yöntemler. Spintlerin sınıflandırılması, dinamik splintlerin taşıması gereken özellikler
Week 12 Elde sık görülen patolojilerin ortezlenmesi (romatoid el, periferik sinir yaralanmaları, fleksör/ekstansör tendon yaralanmaları, spastik el, kümülatif tarvmalar, konjenital deformiteler, dijital deformiteler vb.)
Week 13 Dirsek patolojileri ve ortezlenmesi (kontraktürler, tenisçi/gofcü dirseği, instabiliteler, pronasyon/supinasyon sorunları)
Week 14 Omuz patolojileri ve ortezlenmesi (klavikula ve humerus kırıkları, omuz subluksasyonları, brakial pleksus lezyonları, postural defektler)
