Course Description
Critical illness in intensive care units includes respiratory insufficiency, evaluation of patients undergoing surgery, and identification and implementation of a physiotherapy and rehabilitation program. The course is designed to provide the student with an opportunity to learn about intensive care environment, critical illness, respiratory failure pathophysiology and effects on body systems, intensive care patient selection and evaluation, intensive care respiration training, airway cleaning techniques, patient mobility and exercise approaches, The use of life support equipment in clinical monitoring and evaluation, the approach to mechanical ventilation patients and separation from mechanical ventilation and physiotherapy and rehabilitation applications, and the knowledge of physiotherapy in clinical decision making in intensive care unit.
