Course Description

The aim of the course is teaching the theoretical basis, the place in therapeutic exercises, mechanisms of action and practical application of Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) techniques which is one of the basic neurophysiological approach used in physiotherapy. The basic principles, philosophy and neurophysiological basis of PNF techniques, the places and purposes of PNF techniques in therapeutic exercises, the upper and lower extremities, trunk, head and neck PNF patterns, the methods of inhibition and facilitation techniques, mat exercises, walking education, disease specific principles of PNF, respiratory training with PNF, practical applications for oral function, and the different uses of PNF techniques are given in this course. Conference-type lectures and laboratory work is involved.
