Course Description
The course aims to train students in the skills they will need to understand the novel technological advances in pharmacy at the nanoscale and how new nanomaterials and processes can be applied to drug delivery, diagnosis, treatment monitoring, personalized medicine and more. Basics of nanotechnology in pharmacy and nanopharmaceutical compounds such as liposomes, dendrimers, solid lipid nanoparticles, niosomes, polymer nanoparticles, micelles, nanogels, emulsions, polymer conjugates, protein carriers will be discussed in details. Course also aims to provide general characterization techniques in nanotechnology, fundamentals of sustained/controlled/targeted drug delivery, principles of advanced drug delivery systems, applications of nanotechnology in pharmaceutical sciences. Course also includes principles of drug targeting as well as distinguishing between active and passive targeting.
