Course Description

The main topics are molecular basis of biological rhythms, internal clocks and their messengers, principles of clinical chronobiology, physiology and pharmacology of melatonin, data processing in chronobiological studies, rhythmic variations in the activity of gastrointestinal, hepatic, renal, respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine systems in healthy and unhealthy conditions, chronobiology of human sleep and sleep disorders, chronobiology of blood pressure and chronotherapy in cardiovascular disorders, nocturnal asthma and chronotherapy, chronobiology in laboratory medicine, cancer chronobiology and treatment approaches, and administration time dependent differences in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs. Chronobiological implications for the treatment of sleep disorders, chronotoxicology, pain management and shift-work related outcomes of health will also be considered.
