Course Description
The molecular mechanisms utilized by microbes of different sorts used in pathogenesis are covered in the Molecular Microbiology and Microbial Pathogenesis course. The methods used by bacteria, viruses and parasites in causing disease are thoroughly discussed as well as mechanisms associated with drug efficacy and resistance. Molecular pathways used by microorganisms to assemble virulence factors and host-pathogen interactions are discussed with the help of primary research articles. The students are encouraged to apply molecular techniques in microbiology as part of writing proposals and presentations as well as reading articles to present in journal clubs. Students are expected to critically review and evaluate published papers in the field.
