Course Description

The aim of this course is to determine the etiology and treatment plan of periodontal non-esthetic conditions (gummy smile, high smile line, melanin hyperpigmentation, and papillary loss). Futhermore, learning the treatment methods of melanin hyperpigmentation, getting information about lasers in periodontology, understanding the ideal soft tissue conditions and ratios related to smile esthetics, learning to identify and treat the conditions that cause high smile line. The students will have detailed information about the periodontal approaches related to high smile line treatment (such as gingivectomy, reverse vestibuloplasty, and botulinum toxin applications), surgical and non-surgical treatment approaches of papillary loss. They will learn the management of possible complications by identifying the risks associated with all the treatment methods described.
