Course Description
The aims of the course are to understand the formation and development mechanisms of inflammatory periodontal diseases, to learn the formation of microbial dental plaque, to learn information about microorganisms specific to periodontal diseases and their pathological effects, to learn about the interaction of host and bacteria. The students will be able to comprehend the biological changes in epithelium, connective tissue, and bone tissue following the organization of dental plaque. They will learn the immune system cells that play a role in the immuno-inflammatory response, their functions and interactions, the mechanisms of biomolecules in periodontal tissues. At the end of the course, the students will learn the histopathological changes in the bone and connective tissue and the immuno-inflammatory response of periodontal disease.
