Course Description

Definition and objectives of the course; The aim of this course is to enable students to apply existing knowledge to improve the health of the population and to use research methods to understand the determinants that are effective in health and disease states. It enhances competence in analysis, synthesis and planning by providing the knowledge and skills necessary for the students to evaluate the health status of the society. Definition, principles, strategies, historical development of epidemiology; Areas of use of epidemiological methods; Descriptive epidemiology; Epidemiological measures; Tools used in aggregate data in epidemiology; Case control studies; Cross-sectional surveys field surveys; Control studies; Intervention studies; Methodological research; Epidemiology of infectious diseases; Epidemiological investigation of epidemics; Notification and surveillance systems; Epidemiological criteria determining health status; Epidemiology research planning.
