Course Description

The objective of this program is to give clinical experience to medical students in general surgery including benign and malignant disorders of gastrointestinal system, omentum, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, extrahepatic biliary system, thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal gland and breast, liver transplantation, peritonitis and intraabdominal abscesses, abdominal compartment syndrome, ostomies and preoperative stoma planning, evaluation and resuscitation of the injured patient, shock, systemic response to injury, diaphragmatic disorders. Surgical infections, brain death, burns and frost, bleeding, and transfusion, wound care and healing, physical examination of abdomen, breast, neck and rectum, perioperative evaluation of surgical patient, rules of operating room, surgical incisions and drains, nutrition of the patient, bites and sting, sterilization of surgical equipments are also included in this program.
