Course Description
The objective of this course is to give clinical experience to medical students in anesthesiology including the practice of anesthesiology, procedures, and history of anesthesia, local anesthetics and toxicity, regional anesthesia procedures (neuraxial anesthesia, peripheral nerve blocks), general anesthesia (inhalation and nonvolatile anesthetics), anesthetic complications, ethical issues in anesthesia, preoperative management and premedication, neuromuscular transmission, neuromuscular blocking agents and monitoring. This course also informs students on airway management, endotracheal intubation, and mechanical ventilation, monitoring during anesthesia, acute and chronic pain management, fluid management and transfusion during anesthesia, oxygen management (oxygen transport, hypoxemia/hypoxia, respiratory failure, oxygen therapy), anesthesia-specific conditions, anesthetic management for special patients, cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
