Course Description

This course is the continuation of ENGL145. The aim of the course is to further develop students’ listening, speaking, reading, writing and study skills. They will learn how to identify and analyze a comparison and contrast essay by using certain techniques. Moreover, they will study comparison and contrast connectors, recognize the differences between fact and opinion sentences, outline, and analyze an opinion essay which includes counter-argument and refutation sentences. Students will be able to realize the differences between the outlining structures of a comparison and contrast essay and an opinion essay. Furthermore, students will summarize texts and make inferences by using a variety of reading strategies.
