Course Description

The course involves reading the main sources of the features and historical development of the ancient Turkish poetry, study of; the history of ancient Turkish poetry, the developmental stages since the establishment of the ancient Turkish poetry, foreign influences in Ottoman poetry, comparison of Ottoman poetry texts with Arabic and Persian literary poetry texts, introducing and analysing the poetry examples written in various poetry forms belonging to the period of Old Turkish Literature, structural features of ancient Turkish poetry, the meaning of ancient Turkish poetry, reading, examining and interpreting the samples of gazel, kaside, mesnevi, musammat etc. that belong to some major representatives, uncovering the traditional structure of ancient Turkish poetry, presenting the stylish renewals of texts, and evaluation of texts on the aesthetic structure of ancient Turkish poetry.

Week 4 Arap ve Fars edebiyatlarına ait şiir metinleriyle Osmanlı dönemi şiir metinlerinin karşılaştırılması.
Week 5 Çeşitli nazım şekilleriyle yazılmış şiir örneklerinin tanıtımı ve incelenmesi: Kasîde nazım şekli ve Nef'î'den örnek metin
Week 6 Gazel nazım şekli ve tarihi gelişimi. Bâkî'den örnek gazel incelemesi
