Course Description

Criminal Law-II builds upon the introductory knowledge on criminal law by engaging with specific types of crimes. These crimes range from theft and robbery, various types of fraud, to burglary and blackmail. The course, then, considers different aspects of criminal damage taking into account basic criminal damage, arson, aggravated damage, and computer crimes. The course also engages with inchoate offences such as criminal attempts and conspiracies; issues of complicity; and the criminal liability of corporations. The course concludes with a study of broad range of defenses against criminal offences which include necessity, consent, duress, insanity, intoxication, mistake, and diminished responsibility.
