Course Description

This course focuses on the basic concepts of human rights and their emergence and development. In the first part, fundamental rights and freedoms are discussed, with special emphasis on European Convention on Human Rights and the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights. In addition, principles regarding the protection of fundamental rights and freedoms are specified. In the second part, the handling and protection of Human Rights within the framework of the United Nations is evaluated. Continuing with the definition of the meaning of protecting human rights, the course focuses on the regime of rights and freedoms, the emergence of rights and freedoms and the way they take place in international documents.
