Course Description

In this course, the concept of law is analyzed from a holistic perspective. First part of the course engages with conceptual issues of law, of legal thinking, and of legal rules and ethical principles. In the second part of the course, epistemological questions about law and legality are discussed taking into account different perceptions of legality put forward by several schools of legal thought. In this context, by referring to legal positivism and natural law discussions, the relationship between concepts of justice and law is studied. The last part of the course introduces a comparative approach to theories of justice engaging with main problems of social and material justice.
