Course Description

This course introduces the elements of Turkish Constitutional Law. In the first part of the course, the process of the making of the 1982 Constitution is examined. In the second part of the course, the model of the Constitution regarding the state organization, the results and privileges attached to the legislative and parliamentary power, and the formation and functions of the council of ministers are explained. In the last part of the course, the position of the President as the Head of the Executive, the mutual relations between the legislature and the executive, and the nature of the Turkish government system are examined, and practices related to the constitutional judiciary are studied.
