Course Description

The aim of this course is to advance students ability of using Adobe Illustrator program effectively and create logos, draw illustrations, develop typography that successfully reproduce on paper or the web. The Illustrator program is a vector graphics editor. The student will learn how to work with vectors, layers, live trace and use the drawing tools to create infographics, illustrations, brochures, web pages etc. It is imperative they understand that using design programs such as Illustrator is only a tool like a pen or brush. In this course, students will learn that creatively, innovatively and effectively using of these tools is only possible of understanding and applying graphic design principles.

Course outcomes

  1. 01 1- Describe (3) and select the effective and engaging structure of high quality Illustrator documents.
  2. 02 2- Describe (3) and select the appropriate color models for screen-based and print media
  3. 03 3- Recognize (2) the differences in available printing techniques and determine the best one(s) for a given project.
  4. 04 4- Integrate (4) basic design and communications with the complex structures of print media by producing assignments that stress the concept, design and layout elements of print work..
  5. 05 5- Integrate (4) using advanced features of Acrobat, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
  6. 06 6- Apply(3) basic techniques in preparation of printable or digital art.
