Course Description

This course introduces the concept of "sustainability" since it gained gradually importance. It is integrated into design projects. In this course guidelines and examples are be used to emphasize the practical aspects of sustainable design. The course aims to challenge students to re-evaluate the discipline with an ecological consciousness on human health and environmental issues. The course includes initiate discussions on issues such as factors causing environmental problems, philosophical approaches towards the environment, the power of design to contribute to environmental concerns, consumption habits etc. Valuable case studies are included in the course and while considering the design aspects of the product, students are required to design a project with awareness of the global environment.
