Course Description

This course examines the development of interior space culture, lifestyles, and spatial organization in Mediterranean, Anatolian, and Near Eastern civilizations from the prehistoric period to the Early Byzantine period from an interior architecture perspective. The interior spaces of residential, public, religious, and palace buildings are evaluated in terms of spatial use and organization. While analyzing the effects of cultural, social, and technological developments on interior design, the characteristic features of different historical periods are also examined. The course aims to enable students to evaluate historical knowledge through a critical perspective that supports design decisions and to understand the significance of cultural heritage within the field of interior architecture.
